The Black Diamond Raven Ice Axe is the modern update to Chouinard’s original curved-pick piolet — a tool that’s been trusted on classic routes around the world for decades. Now lighter and more comfortable in hand, the Raven features an investment-cast stainless steel head with an improved pick and adze for secure placements and efficient chopping. The aircraft-grade aluminum shaft has been reshaped with a trapezoidal cross-section for a better grip, while the redesigned spike offers improved bite and easier plunging. Simple, durable, and efficient, this is the quintessential mountaineer’s axe.
